Pricing FAQ

We would like to book you for a commercial or corporate video. What information should we send over?

A good place to start is shooting me an email at darrin@drigophotography.ca (or the contact form) with the following:

  1. Why you need a video? (What is the message or purpose of the video?)

  2. Your timeline. (When are you hoping to start shooting, and when do you need your video delivered by?)

  3. Reference videos. (What are some videos you’ve seen that inspire you, or capture a similar feel you’re hoping to achieve).

  4. A rough budget. (I’ll explain this below but a rough budget helps me build an appropriate scope of production).

How much does a video cost?

This is always such a tough question to answer. I often joke that a 1 minute video costs $500 to $1,000,000 - and it is sort of true. The cost of a video will often depend on the scope of production (how many shoot days are we planning, how intensive is the edit, how many pre-production hours are required). The information above helps me better understand the scope and scale and I can better price out a project proposal.

Why should I consider working with D. Rigo Media?

The answer to this question is a balance of two things. I am a relationships-first company - I put as much time into getting to know my clients, understanding their personality and brand as I do into my actual production of images and videos. The second piece is that I make high quality productions at an approachable rate - I’m not a team of 5 people with 10 lights and 6 cinema cameras. I have spent years simplifying the production cycle to be lean and trim without compromising quality - I hope my work speaks for itself in that regard.

Do you charge for project proposals/scoping documents?

I do not. If you have an idea and want to hear about how we might be able to work together, our initial conversations and jam sessions are all free of charge. I want to get to know you and your idea before we ever break out contracts and retainers.

EXAMPLES

A GOOD EMAIL EXAMPLE:

Hi Darrin,

I’m looking at putting a video project together for my company Big Heavy Duty Spatulas Co. We are a midsize company based out of Burns Lake, BC and specialize in making really big, rugged spatulas. We have two locations in Burn’s Lake, one in Hinton, AB and one in Brandon, MB. You can learn more about us on our website here: www.bigheavydutyspatulaco.com

We’d like to create a brand commercial that highlights the many uses for giant spatulas, and touch on our small town roots and craft approach to making our spatulas.

We did a competitor scan and really liked these videos from other kitchenware companies:

We also looked in other commercial areas and loved the tone and feel of this Jeep ad:

Our estimated budget for this project is approximately $6500.00 and that would include travel expenses. Our timeline is relatively flexible but we would like to start shooting sometime this month and would hope to have the full commercial edited and in hand by the following month.

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing back from you.

A BAD EMAIL EXAMPLE:

Hi Darrin,

I’m emailing to enquire about your rates for a video production about my company Big Heavy Duty Spatulas Co.

Please let me know what you estimate the cost of that would be.

Thank you,
